An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 was registered this Monday in the southern part of the Philippines, the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the country announced.
The epicenter is located in the sea area east of Sarangani Island and the depth is calculated at 76 kilometers.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) estimated the earthquake to have a magnitude of 6.7, while the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reports an earthquake of 6.8.

So far, there are no reports of casualties or significant material damage.
The Philippines, as reported by APE – MPE, is located in the so-called “ring of fire” of the Pacific Ocean, where the movements of tectonic plates often cause earthquakes and intense volcanic activity.
