Pakistan rocked by two earthquakes within an hour

Two moderate-level earthquakes were experienced in Balochistan early on Tuesday morning.

The first earthquake tremors were felt in Quetta and its surrounding areas around 5:35am, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, Islamabad of the Met Department.

The tremors were also felt in the Pakistan-Afghan border areas, including Nushki, Chaman, Chagai, Qilla Abdullah, Dalbandin, Pishin and other surrounding areas.

The Met Office said the earthquake was also felt in the Pakistan-Iran border areas.

As per the national quake monitoring body, the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.4 on the Richter Scale, while its depth was 35 kilometres.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 150km southwest of Quetta.

A short while later, the same area was struck by another earthquake at 06:24am. The magnitude of that earthquake was recorded at 4.5 on the Richter Scale, while its depth was 136km.

The epicentre of that earthquake was recorded 120km southwest of Quetta.There were no reports of any casualties in either of the quakes.
