A magnitude 6.9 earthquake has struck near the Northern Mariana Islands in the Pacific, according to an announcement from the US Geological Survey.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 12.4 kilometers and no tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute stated that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.7 on the Richter scale.
