The epicenter of the earthquake was 10 kilometers southeast of Izmir and the depth was calculated by the Euro-Mediterranean Institute at 13 kilometers.

The earthquake was also felt in Greece, more specifically in Samos, which is located 69 kilometers away from the epicenter.
