At least 22,000 people living across 14 settlements in the Russian-controlled Kherson region are at risk of flooding due to this morning’s dam attack, the Moscow-installed head of the region has said.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has claimed up to 80 settlements are at risk.
Evacuations of areas around the Kakhovka dam on the Dnipro River have already begun, with a Ukrainian official earlier warning that there were just five hours until the water hit a “critical level”.
